Becky Atherton
A Lancashire born artist Becky Atherton recently started to develop her own creative practice after working as a community artist for 25years . She completed her MA in Fine Art at UClan Preston in 2021 and throughout her work she explores herstory, female mythology , fairytale, and folklore , she exhibits her work regionally , nationally, and internationally.
Becky received a developing your creative practice grant from the Arts Council in 2023 , during this period Becky explored the herstory of philanthropist Anne Haworth (Haworth Art Gallery)
Her new body of work explores Lydia Bradbury a fictional character who along with many of us has been born into and has bought into the materialistic disconnect with the natural world. She is attempting to connect not just as a viewer of the natural world but to become part of the ebb and flow. She is the main character within a series of paintings Becky is working on as she tries to find true connection.
